Go on tours during Ramadan with KTMB
KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has put into operation a novel idea to demonstrate that Muslims can go on tours during Ramadan without having to worry about where to break fast or perform the obligatory prayers.
KTMB’s Pelancongan Ibadah tours was introduced this year with the inaugural trip from Kuala Lumpur to Wakaf Baru in Kelantan, taking 15 hours by the Ekspres Wau train which left the Sentral Station in the federal capital at 8.30pm on Sept 17 and arrived in the east coast state at 10.30am the following day.
“KTM Berhad wants to encourage tourism and help Muslims discard the notion that they cannot go on tours during the fasting month,” said KTMB general manager Sarbini Tijan.
When the time came for the breaking of fast, passengers who did not bring food had little to worry about as various types of food were available at the cafe on the train.
Even a special compartment had been made available for the passengers to perform their prayers.
Sarbini also said the tour to the east coast state coincided with “Visit Kelantan Year 2008”. - Bernama
